Job Description Summary: This is a senior-level technical position, requiring a wide variety of experience in supporting technology in a complex environment. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Asset Management and working closely with User Support Services (USS), Business Relationship Management, Enterprise Information Systems and Infrastructure and Operations teams, the incumbent manages a full range of services essential for the operation of Webster University's end-point protection of client computers, peripherals and systems.This position will be responsible for the complete imaging, license access and patch management lifecycle including testing, deploying, troubleshooting, etc. The Desktop Engineer will engage and train technical staff as needed to assist in imaging duties. The position will be responsible for communicating complex technical information, results, and ideas to technical and non-technical faculty and staff.?The Desktop Engineer will also be included in other Security related responsibilities as needed. They will be expected to work closely with business units to test and implement new technologies. This position may sometimes be required to work a later shift or weekend in order to perform technical duties after normal business hours.
Minimum Qualifications ?Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Min. 3 years of experience managing endpoints and endpoint security strategies including anti-virus and patch management. Experience with LANDesk, SCCM, Symantec Endpoint Protection and WSUS preferred. Familiar with re/packaging 32 and 64-bit software for Windows 7 or newer operating systems Familiar with re/packaging for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments. ?Min. 3 years of experience installing, configuring, automating, and managing Windows 7, Windows 10, Office 2016 and Office 365 suites.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education preferred
Essential Duties With guidance and collaboration, lead the development, deployment and maintenance of standard OS images according to industry best practice. Define/maintain device imaging standards, processes, and procedures. Create/maintain production device images, distribution packages, working with business units to test them prior to production. Responsible for the build, test and deployment for software deployment, software updates, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments and patch management of systems and applications in both a test and production environment.
Responsible for the accuracy of to the Universitys Asset Management system, including inventory, discovery and tracking of end points; ensure Remote Control functionality; provide overall maintenance, including installing patches and performing upgrades. Create and distribute reports and dashboards to various business units and departments
Under guidance and with collaboration, define, create and maintain security and non-security Patch Management standards, processes and procedures for workstations. Provide reporting of patch compliance, and coordinating patch management remediation efforts with onsite technical staff.
Manage Symantec Endpoint Protection console; deploy virus definitions; produce definition compliance reports; Configure, deploy and maintain Deep Freeze policies for classroom and lab PCs; monitor Deep Freeze client health
Assist and advise in creation and development of long-range plans and goals for the end device environment as well as evaluating new technologies for usefulness within the business. Works closely with the various IT departments to plan and manage the university infrastructure/network as it pertains to desktop health and usage.
