Develop and implement a broad digital advertising strategy and process for Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB), partner with internal stakeholders and be a fully engaged member of highly functioning brand marketing team.
Reporting to the Director of Brand Marketing, the Digital Advertising Manager will play a lead role in developing paid online advertising campaigns to drive a significant number of high-quality leads in the coming year for Stanford GSB Programs and Initiatives. The role will be an integral member of the Stanford GSB Brand Marketing team, yet will serve key departments (MBA, MSx, Seed) and provide resources from the central Communications & Marketing team. Specifically, the Digital Advertising Manager will work with marketing leaders from key departments to support, advise and manage production of their paid search and social online advertising campaigns. The Digital Advertising Manager will identify new online advertising solutions, for the Stanford GSB brand as a whole, by understanding target audiences, defining online advertising solutions, measuring success, and optimizing to achieve results. This role manages outside agencies, for paid social and paid search, to ensure effective operations overall. Your primary responsibilities include:
Manage all aspects, including development and implementation of digital paid advertising strategy for Stanford GSB as a whole, and also to specifically support ongoing paid social and search advertising for key departments including the MBA, MSx and Seed programs.
Develop point of view on the opportunity and risks for Stanford GSB to broaden its digital advertising footprint.
Evaluate existing structure, resources and processes with the goals of effectiveness and efficiency in mind.
Ultimately provide thought leadership and counsel for the long-term management of online advertising at Stanford GSB and deliver a thorough recommendation to a more sustainable approach.
Drive a significant number of high-quality leads in the coming year, track the results, and report to internal clients.
Work closely with the organic social team to ensure a highly coordinated user experience.
Partner with agencies to identify keywords, create copy and optimize bidding strategies. This includes creative, landing pages and an ongoing testing strategy.
Advise on media planning and buying, including budget allocation across channels.
Develop an ongoing testing strategy that continues to advance the advertising program.
Liaise with internal stakeholders such as program teams, digital advertising contractors, IT, Executive Education, and the Communications team to achieve program goals and to ensure coordination.
Evaluate campaign target metrics, measure effectiveness and communicate to key partners.
Analyze metrics (using Google Analytics, CRM or other tools) including traffic and conversion statistics, growth trends, customer churn and return on investment, CPM, clicks, Names to database, and Cost per name via high quality names.
Align paid online advertising content to GSB brand strategy and voice to ensure broader brand consistency.
Manage constituent complaints and reputational issues and other high priorities on digital channels.
May hire, coach and manage team members or contractors.
Be flexible to completing any other additional assigned duties.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge of the web, technology, paid social and search platforms, current and future trends.
Strong expertise in database marketing and lead management systems and techniques. Requires solid understanding of processes around marketing programs and lead processing, including what constitutes a good lead.
Strong marketing analytical skills and demonstrated experience in determining metrics, analyzing data, creating reports, assessing campaign performance and optimizing in real time when possible. In-depth experience with Google Analytics or other analytics tools.
Hands-on experience with Salesforce.com.
Strong project management including the ability to develop timetables and milestones for keeping deliverables and budget on track.
Strong strategic outlook and ability to leverage current and future trends to help an organization succeed at the broadest level, across groups, teams or units.
Subject matter expertise in digital channels and understands principles of what makes good online advertising.
Knowledge and understanding of brand strategy and how to apply principles of brand consistency.
Ability to interact effectively and tactfully, build relationships, and work with senior staff and other members of the academic community.
Experience managing digital agencies for creative and media planning and buying.
Consulting experience a plus.
