Ensures goals and objectives of the unit are met. Evaluates effectiveness of admissions and/or recruitment programs and makes recommendations for recruitment strategy to enhance yield.
Evaluate and select students for the MBA for Working Professionals programs, including reviewing applications and interviewing candidates. Make admissions decisions from a competitive applicant pool and demonstrate subject matter expertise over assigned segments. Oversees the design, planning and implementation of a specific application review and selection process.
Prepares strategy and plans for recruitment drives programs.
As a member of the admissions management team, contribute to the development of the overall strategic plan, lead/manage implementation of assigned elements (marketing, recruitment, cultivation, selection, yield), and serve as a senior admissions liaison at cross-department events or projects. Assist in the design and implementation of admissions programs.
Evaluates and recommends fellowship and scholarship awards for admitted applicants, working closely with Haas' Financial Aid department.
Manage staff and fill in for the executive director, as needed. Provides guidance and support to subordinates. Lead hiring, training and performance evaluation associated with the management of staff. Assist with planning and development of staff retreat and other staff engagement activities.
Domestic travel for recruiting and yield events. Represents Berkeley-Haas to prospective students, corporations and alumni through large and small format presentations/events.
Maintain a strong knowledge of Haas, the MBA programs, and the MBA marketplace. Develop and maintain relationships with Haas staff, students, alumni and faculty to further program initiatives
Other projects and assignments as needed for the successful functioning of the office.
Identify and participate in personal and professional development initiatives to improve knowledge of Berkeley-Haas, MBA admissions, or gain other skills and insights relevant to the role. Attend industry conferences, as appropriate.
Advanced skills to develop the school's/college's strategic recruitment plans, designing outreach and recruitment programs and materials that will attract and enroll top candidates to the school/college, including students from under-represented groups. Advanced knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
Ability to quickly learn, interpret and articulate UC Berkeley policies and procedures to prospective students and the public.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, keen judgment and the ability to relate professionally to diverse groups including corporations, community organizations, and other institutions.
Demonstrates outstanding organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work and manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
Demonstrates outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. Willingness to question the status quo.
Possesses strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret large volumes of information.
Self-motivated, demonstrating the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Available to work some evenings and weekends, occasionally as needed, and willing to travel (mostly local and Western states, approximately 5% travel time)
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Supervisory or Lead experience that includes direct oversight of a team of individuals and their work.
Experience working in a corporate environment and/or an understanding of a broad variety of industries and functions of MBA applicants.
At least 5 years of marketing, recruiting or admissions experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
MBA or equivalent graduate degree and/or equivalent experience/training.
Salary & Benefits
This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience up to $93,900.00.
