Job Summary: The IT Technical Specialist IV performs advanced IT activities for specialized, complex and/or functional areas requiring the expert knowledge and professional application of IT principles, practices and techniques in accordance with industry standards and university policy. Requires a great amount of evaluation, originality or ingenuity. May be responsible for training, assisting or supervising lower level IT personnel and other staff. May lead projects and cross-functional activities.
Additional Department Summary: Position has responsibilities for supporting and leading data integration among software systems for The University of Alabama’s Office for Academic Affairs This position is responsible for successfully integrating multiple enterprise and legacy applications and reporting tools, and for providing support for related functions and requirements. These responsibilities include the creation, enhancement and troubleshooting of web applications and forms, data imports/exports, data integrity and account administration. The position is also responsible for establishing business logic rules, designing interfaces and evaluating changes to meet the needs of internal and external customers. This position is responsible for supporting the use of multiple applications used by OAA, including Digital Measures, People Admin, Argos, OnBase, APPWORX (or their equivalents), Tableau, and custom web forms and applications. Position will write and maintain reports requiring understanding of complex SQL for internal and external data requestors requiring data from multiple database systems. The position will work with staff within the Office for Academic Affairs, College Deans’ offices, academic departments, and various student support and administrative offices to fulfill data requests and identify opportunities to provide reporting to increase efficiency and further the mission of the University. The candidate must possess sophisticated technical skills and abilities as well as the capacity to understand the business needs of the Office for Academic Affairs as well as external customers. Candidate must keep abreast of the latest technology and demonstrate an ability to recommend changes to make certain OAA is improving systems and processes while adhering to UA standards. Candidate must be able to manage multiple projects/assignments and anticipate project needs and timelines. This position must have the ability to develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with UA personnel as well as others outside UA. The position will be responsible for consulting, determining projects, scoping of projects, setting project expectations, monitoring project progress and evaluating project results.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree and one (1) year of IT experience; OR Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of IT experience; OR Associate’s degree and five (5) years of IT experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and seven (7) years of IT experience. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia, instructional or security technology skills or knowledge of project management methods and applications. May require advanced level training or certification.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.
Preferred Qualifications: Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE). Experience working with enterprise-level products such as Banner, PeopleSoft, Slate, Salesforce or equivalent. Experience working with reporting tools such as Argos or Tableau. Oracle and/or Toad experience. Agile Certification and/or experience working in an agile team or environment
