The Beatty Lab at OHSU is seeking to recruit a Research Assistant 2 to conduct research at the interface of chemistry and biology. The Research Assistant will be part of an interdisciplinary team developing novel tags for high-resolution imaging. This position is particularly well-suited for a researcher who would like to gain new hands-on experience in a variety of research areas and techniques.
The Research Assistant will assist in ordering materials and supplies, maintaining records, and documenting results. Projects will likely expose the candidate to numerous methods used in chemical biology, including fluorescence microscopy, fluorescent labeling, molecular biology, analytical biochemistry, and bioconjugation chemistry.
Bachelors Degree with major courses in field of research / No Experience, OR Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of molecular biology and bioconjugation chemistry
Familiarity with experimental design including replicates, controls, and reproducibility
Excellent reading and writing skills
Organized, reliable, self-sufficient, and goal-oriented
Ability to learn new methods quickly
Ability to work independently and alongside other researchers
Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed
Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or related field
Experience or significant coursework in molecular biology methods, including CRISPR/Cas9
Experience with bioconjugation chemistry, protein purification, fluorescence microscopy, mammalian cell culture
Demonstrated success completing research projects
