The head athletic trainer is responsible for directing and coordinating all of the activities and personnel of the athletic training room, and oversees the care and rehabilitation of injuries to Salem State University student-athletes.
The mission of the athletic training services is to provide the highest quality athletic health care and safety to meet the needs of the intercollegiate athletic programs and its student-athletes. The athletic training staffs primary goals are to provide optimum injury care; to prevent, manage and rehabilitate injuries that do occur and to assure a safe and expedited return to participation.
Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field
3-5 years of full-time clinical experience as a head or assistant athletic trainer at a college or university
BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
Current Massachusetts Athletic Training License, or eligible for an AT license by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professions
Demonstrated evidence of advancement in clinical expertise
Demonstrated contemporary expertise in the delivery of evidence-based patient care and management of the athletic training services.
Current Emergency Cardiac Care Certification (Healthcare Provider/BLS)
Post-professional master’s degree or higher in athletic training
Greater than 5 years of relevant post-certification experience
Previous experience in clinical supervision and education of athletic training students
Professional Rescuer CPR/AED (instructor certification)
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Experience in and a commitment to working in a multicultural, multiracial, multilingual environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles
