Position Description: This is a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Instruction position that reports to the Department Chairperson. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Teaching face-to-face and online courses in the Parks, Recreation & Leisure Studies core curriculum as well as courses in the Outdoor Recreation & Education specialization (e.g., Recreation & Leisure in Society; Recreation Programming; Principles of Ecotourism; Expedition Planning & Management; Concepts & Issues in Adventure Programming, etc.).
Updating and implementing safety and risk management policies and procedures for field-based courses offered through the Outdoor Recreation & Education specialization (e.g., Wilderness Living Skills; Canoeing; Kayaking; Mountain Biking; Caving; Climbing; etc.).
Training and supervision of Graduate Teaching Assistants who are responsible for delivering field-based courses in the program.
Managing and maintaining program equipment and supplies.
Undergraduate student advising, as well as, supervision of the undergraduate PRLS majors club.
Assisting in student recruitment and retention initiatives.
Providing service to the department, university, community, and profession.
Earned Master's degree in Parks, Recreation & Leisure Studies, Outdoor Recreation & Education, Experiential Education or a closely related discipline (doctorate preferred).
Evidence of successful college/university teaching experience.
The ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: wilderness living skills, winter wilderness living skills, wilderness navigation, rock climbing, caving, mountain biking, coastal kayaking, whitewater kayaking, whitewater canoeing, and whitewater rafting.
Evidence of experience in management and leadership of outdoor adventure programs.
Demonstrated commitment to working with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
