Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Physician Specialist to work at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, Special Treatment Unit (STU) located in Avenel, New Jersey. The Physician Specialist is responsible for providing medical services to inmates of the Department of Corrections that are consistent with the community standards of care.
Serves as the Site Medical Director and supervises Physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Serves as liaison for clinical matters with medical providers outside of the system and be available to provide on-call services.
Provides emergency care, routine medical care, preventive care and education to patients.
Assures implementation and ongoing status of on-site chronic clinics.
Provides professional consultation to all members of the health services team relative to inmate’s health care management.
Provides services in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control infection guidelines, Federal, State and Local laws and the Quality Improvement Program standards.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Licensed Physician in the State of New Jersey.
Experienced in a primary care specialty.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be Board Certified and qualified by the state laws/ regulations to practice medicine.
Current DEA registration, CDS and CPR certifications.
A valid driver's license is required.
Possession of own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.
On call responsibilities.
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
