Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Department of Cardiac Surgery is currently seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator. This position is located at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center.
This position has oversight for clinical research trials within the Department of Cardiac Surgery and has responsibility for ensuring that they are completed within specifications. This individual will work to establish operational objectives and assignments for their own studies as well as other clinical research coordinators within the Department. Primary activities and decision making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree. Under FLSA, incumbents in this position meet the criteria for exempt status. Additional duties of the position include:
Analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action for clinical research studies
Screens and has oversight for the recruitment of subjects; supervises the scheduling of experiments and the collection, processing, and analysis of data and reporting of test results
Collects and manages patient and laboratory data for clinical research projects
Tracks and abstracts patient clinical and research information from various sources
Writes, edits, and renews IRB applications for various clinical trials
Works with Cardiac Surgery faculty to assess and apply for new clinical trials
Assures compliance with protocols, adherence to good clinical practice guidelines, FDA regulations, and all other federal, local, and University guidelines.
Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field
Prior experience in working as a research coordinator or similar role
Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
Accept direction and function both independently and collaboratively with staff at all levels within the setting.
Ability to manage time, organize and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail is critical, as is problem solving and judgment within scope of position responsibilities.
A desirable candidate would possess a good understanding of the research process and strong communications, administrative, and organizational skills. The candidate should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, dependability and ability to work well under pressure. Ability to manage time, organize and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail is critical, as is problem solving and judgment within scope of position responsibilities. Must be able to accept direction and function both independently and collaboratively with staff at all levels within the setting. Possess initiative and willingness to learn new tasks and assist others as needed. Bachelor's degree in health related field; master's preferred. Experience as clinical nurse preferred.
