John Tyler Community College invites applications for a part-time Career Coach position serving James River High School and Cosby High School. This is a partially grant-funded position of up to 20 hours per week. RESPONSIBILITIES: Career Coaches work in Tyler service-area high schools for the purpose of guiding students in their academic and career planning. Career Coaches work on average 10 hours per week, per school. Each Career Coach is assigned one or two schools. John Tyler Community College currently has Career Coaches at Amelia, Manchester, Meadowbrook, Prince George, and Thomas Dale high schools. We are currently looking for new Career Coaches at Cosby, Hopewell, and James River high schools. The Career Coach assists students with college applications, completion of FAFSA forms, and VPT testing. The Career Coach works with students individually and in small groups to determine career interests using EMSI Career Coach and the Virginia Wizard. Additional responsibilities may include: organizing related school activities, workshops, and assisting students with scholarship applications. The Career Coach will represent John Tyler Community College at local community events and school related functions.
