Virginia Western Community College, a two-year public institution of higher education located on a 70-acre campus in Roanoke, VA, is accepting applications for a full-time Practical Nursing faculty. This is a 9-month teaching faculty position with pay and benefits spread across 12 months. As a member of the Practical Nursing faculty, the teaching load will be approximately 15 credits per semester (Fall and Spring), which may include distance-learning courses, on- and off-campus courses and clinical, during the day and/or evening. This position will have expected summer teaching and clinical responsibilities via separate contract. It is anticipated that summer hours will be part-time and will vary each year. In addition to teaching, all faculty members advise students, serve on both program and college committees, and participate in other activities that support the mission of the college. Such activities may include, but are not limited to, club sponsorship, student recruitment, course and program evaluation, community service, and mentoring new and part-time faculty. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education. NOTE: This is a restricted teaching faculty position funded by non-state funds for the first two years. If enrollment projections are met, the intent is to use state funds to support a full-time Practical Nursing faculty position following the initial two years.
