The Associate Director of Alumni Affairs and Special Events will design and lead a comprehensive engagement strategy for NYU Silver School of Social Work alumni, presently numbering nearly 20,000. The Associate Director will design and implement alumni programming with the goals of increasing alumni engagement, and delivering benefit to alumni and School communities, including the development of alumni giving and support for current students. Working closely with the Universitys AR staff, the NYU Silver Assistant Dean of Development, the Dean, as well as the Silver Schools External Affairs team, the Associate Director will advance Silvers goals by developing and executing the core alumni relations portfolio, including outreach, engagement, and stewardship of alumni, alum donors, and friends; and overseeing the execution of special events, including the School convocation, Alumni weekend, Deans Office Special Events, such as celebrations of the Schools 60th anniversary. Reporting to the Universitys Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations, the Associate Director will work in conjunction with University goals, priorities and strategies to integrate a program for social work alumni into the broader University-wide Alumni Relations initiatives. They will increase communications with alumni by collaborating with both the Silver School and UDAR Communications teams to develop content and enhance alumni engagement, and effectively market programs and services to alumni. The Associate Director will work with the current NYU Silver Alumni Network to develop and guide the development of a Silver School Alumni Association.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Social Work or related field.
Required Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in alumni relations.
Preferred Experience: Experience in an academic, non-profit and/or development environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent planning, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills as well as fundraising experience. Ability to interact with a diverse population at all levels.
