Columbia Investment Management Company, LLC, ("IMC") is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Columbia University charged with stewarding Columbia's endowment for the current and future support of the University operations and with preserving the purchasing power of the endowment over the long-term after inflation. Columbia Investment Management Company is developing a next generation data analytics platform to support our manager and investment selection process. A core component of our platform is the integration of external and alternative data sets to enrich our analytical processes. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer and working closely and collaboratively with colleagues at IMC in a team focused environment, the Data Analytics Specialist will help build out a scalable data pipeline to feed diverse data sets into our data lake and warehouses.
Responsibilities will include Python development and relational database design and development. The incumbent will develop data pipeline transformation and ingestion processes and will be expected to instruct members of the IMC team on how to use the platform to maximize the value of the information it will provide.
Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of four years related experience required;
Advanced degree desirable.
At least three years of Python development including Pandas and Numpy.
At least three years of experience with data pipelines, transformation and ingestion processes.
Proficiency in relational database (SQL & modeling)
Experience with AWS cloud services
Familiar with DevOps for CI / CD
Familiar with data lake concepts
Familiar with machine learning and data science concepts
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required to effectively communicate with all audiences
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Excellent Excel and analytical skills
Strong critical thinking, ability to think outside the box and recommend different solutions
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
Maintains the highest level of ethical standards and passionate commitment to continuous improvement
Inform and update relevant stakeholders of issues affecting the business.
