Business and Auxiliary Services is seeking a talented Assistant Buyer to assist the General Merchandise Buyer in buying for the General Merchandise Department.
The Assistant Buyer is responsible for assisting in buying for the department including but not limited to insignia gifts, regalia, medical school supplies, school and art supplies, general gifts, and greeting cards.
Responsibilities include retail buying, budgeting and financial analysis, and sales. Overtime, weekend and evening hours required as necessary to accomplish departmental goals and assure coverage for events and during peak times.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Associate Degree in retail merchandising and one year of buying experience/or two years of retail buying and/or management experience is required. Knowledge of retail buying practices including POS systems, inventory control and merchandising is required. Substitutions per University guidelines will be permitted. Department Details: Business and Auxiliary Services consists of Auxiliary Services, Auxiliary Operations and Finance; Auxiliary Business Administration and Maintenance; and the University Stores. Our Department strives for the highest standard of quality and service. Our University Stores team consists of four retail locations as well as an in-house buying, planning, and merchandising team. The University Store on Fifth is the official on-campus retailer for students, faculty, and staff, stocking a large range of items from tech to school supplies to books. The Pitt Shop is a Panther fan's one-stop retail location, carrying all major apparel brands and accessories for the tiniest fans to our esteemed alumni. The Pitt Shop at the Pete located in the Petersen Events Center also carries all major apparel brands and accessories to help fans get geared up to cheer on the Panthers. Maggie & Stella's Cards & Gifts carries an array of gifts ranging from simple to elegant high end merchandise.
