The EOF Professional Mathematics Tutor/Workshop Facilitator will conduct a basic mathematics workshop for a group of EOF Pre-Freshmen Studies students who have placed into basic mathematics. Responsibilities include running the workshop Monday-Thursday for two hours a day, and meeting with the EOF Associate Director once a week to discuss student progress.
The Educational Opportunity Fund Pre-Freshmen Studies program is an academic support program that increases student performance and retention in college level coursework. The goal of the EOF Pre Freshmen Studies Basic Mathematics workshop is to prepare students to take the Ramapo Transitional Mathematics course in the fall.
Conduct Basic Mathematics Workshop.
Assist students in preparing for transitional mathematics course.
Assist students with learning operations with whole numbers, Fractions, Mixed Numbers, Integers, Decimals, Rational expressions.
Assist students with learning Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Roots and Radicals, Properties of Exponents, Operations with Polynomials, Factoring, Linear and Quadratic Equations. Factoring, Quadratic formula, and Function Notation
Facilitate study sessions as part of the EOF Pre-Freshman Study Institute.
Attend weekly staff meeting.
Attend one day EOF Summer Staff Orientation.
Monitor and evaluate student progress.
Give students weekly feedback.
Give EOF Associate Director weekly feedback on student progress.
Assess students by providing weekly quizzes.
Must possess a bachelor’s degree.
Must have taught high school mathematics or have relatable experience with tutoring mathematics professionally.
Must be available to run the EOF Pre-Freshmen Studies Basic Mathematics workshop from June 29th to July 30th. Workshop will run Monday-Thursday from in the morning or early afternoon.
Must be available to meet with the EOF Associate Director for 1 hour a week.
Must possess effective written, organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
