Responsibilities: The Director of Facilities Maintenance Services reports directly to the Assistant Vice President Facilities & Operations. This position is responsible for directing university employees involved in planning, operating and maintenance of University facilities, and warehouse. Responsibilities include; developing policies and practices such as work schedules, work standards, and training programs for the building maintenance staff; assists with the preparation of estimates, plans, and specification and bid documents for construction projects. The Director is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing new methods and procedures designed to improve operations and minimize operating costs that results in greater utilization of materials and labor. The Director of Facilities Maintenance Services advises officials on new construction, renovation, or remodeling projects regarding feasibility, accessibility, serviceability and cost as dictated by sound engineering practices and governing codes.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial technology, management, or related fields with minimum of four (4) years supervisory experience with maintenance or construction staffs. Familiarity with all building and governmental codes. Ability to communicate well, both written and verbally, with all members of a university community.
Desired Qualifications: Master’s degree in engineering, industrial technology, management or related field. Additional training and/or experience in engineering and construction preferred. Experience in a university environment, with computerized maintenance management system and training programs is desirable. Kentucky Engineering Registration. Experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC in a university setting is preferred.
