The Graduate Assistant ? Non-Teaching will include conducting searches in the library catalog or databases, locating library materials in the stacks, and offering referrals to reference librarians and staff members. Other tasks include re-shelving reference items, answering the phone, working at the reference desk, assisting with the maintenance of the reference materials.
Assist library patrons with basic research inquiries and directional questions
Conduct searches in the library catalog or databases, locating library materials in the stacks
Preform reference department administrative tasks such as answering the phone, inputting printer paper in the machines, troubleshooting computers and printers, scanners, documenting all reference department statistics.
Assist with stack management of the reference department, special projects, identifying books needing repair.
Assist with opening and closing procedures for the Reference department.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in an applicable field.
Must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Prairie View A&M University. (Minimum of 9 credit hours during the regular fall and spring semesters and 6 semester credit hours for the summer semester).
Must be in good academic standing.
No prior experience required.
Job Posting Close Date:

Physical ability to push and pull loaded book trucks and to lift 20 pounds
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Work with Microsoft Office Professional suite novice or intermediate proficiency in Windows 7 and 10
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Detail-oriented and diligent to follow-up and complete tasks for assigned projects
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
