Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Lead Pharmacy Technician for the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI). The position will assist the department in all aspects of pharmacy practice that do not require professional judgment or intervention. This position will be tasked with overseeing the day-to-day pharmacy activities for the federally funded World Trade Center Health Program contract.
Answers pharmacy and medication related telephone calls and directing program members, providers, and pharmacies as to how to obtain medications through the World Trade Center Health Program Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM).
Inputs refill requests into the EMR for processing by the M.D.
Prepares reports upon request in regards to pharmacy practice areas of interest (i.e. prescribing practices, high cost medications, etc).
Coordinates with clinical and administrative staff in the areas of Case Management, Benefits, and Social Work to facilitate members’ access to needed medications and to ensure programmatic pharmacy guidelines are met.
Performs billing functions, including coding, data entry, and audits, as assigned.
Assists with orientation and training of new staff.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent and possess a Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT).
Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and generalized knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR).
