Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Benefits Functional Specialist in our OneSource Faculty and Staff Service Center. This position is responsible for consistently delivering best in class OneSource FSSC benefits-related transactional services to the Rutgers community. The position will deploy specialized knowledge to resolve inquiries and process enrollments related to benefits including health benefits and/or pension plans.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Provides prompt assistance to customers for Benefits transactions while appropriately tracking and documenting inquiries within the OneSource case management system.
Advises customers on Benefits eligibility and provisions of coverage.
Collects, reviews, processes and certifies enrollment applications and supporting documents.
Processes, manages and coordinates the enrollment of Rutgers employees into plans provided by the State of New Jersey -Division of Pensions and Benefits.
Enters enrollment and benefit payroll deduction data into the university's system and computes and prepares refunds when necessary.
Participates in and supports audits of benefit related data.
Maintains records in an easily retrievable manner and participates in the archiving of records.
Acts a liaison with Payroll Services and the New Jersey Division of Pensions and Benefits in resolving issues.
Ensures Benefits transactional services are being delivered in a consistent and timely manner in accordance with payroll and State deadlines.
Participates in creating and updating the knowledge management system for use by employee self-service as well as customer service representatives for benefits enrollments and related topics.
Identifies process improvement opportunities, leading practices and innovative approaches and tools to increase efficiencies and cost effectiveness across end-to-end OneSource Benefits processes. Supports process and technology driven business process reengineering initiatives.
Advises customer service representatives on the resolution of benefits enrollment related inquiries.
Collaborates with Senior Benefits Specialists and Payroll Specialists to resolve complex issues.
Ensures all relevant procedural and legislative requirements are fulfilled.
Documents and updates processes and procedures.
Participates in and supports ongoing training and development initiatives.
Creates, fosters and maintains a collaborative, innovative, customer-focused team culture.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience in Benefits enrollments or related area.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Benefits enrollment and related processes, policies and practices.
Ability to accurately prepare detailed, technical and confidential benefits and payroll deduction transactions.
Knowledge of HRIS software.
Knowledge of processing and entering payroll deductions for benefit related plans.
Knowledge of case management and tracking software.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to understand HR terminology/concepts, policies and procedures.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to make accurate arithmetic calculations.
Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
Must possess a positive, team-oriented approach to service delivery.
Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast paced, high volume environment.
Experience performing benefits enrollments, preferably in the New Jersey State Health Benefits Program.
