As a member of the Division of Student Success programming staff, coordinates the delivery of programs and services related to Tutoring Services in collaboration with units across the college and the university.
Master's degree by date of employment and experience in collegiate academic support and/or student support programming, or student affairs (internships and practica are acceptable experience). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with university computer systems or similar computer technologies, i.e. EAB-SSC Campus. Experience working with diverse student populations. Experience conducting tutoring sessions, group review sessions, and study skills sessions.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
Facilitates access to academic support through communication and collaboration with units across the university. Promotes Tutoring Services though collaboration with other units including Academic Advising and college departments. Facilitates Supplemental Instruction (SI) Sessions through collaboration with department faculty. Recruits, hires, trains, supports, and supervises student employees for academic support. Evaluates and updates student employee (tutor/study coach/SI leader) hiring process and training each year to implement most effective learning strategies and stay current. Works with campus partners in provision of course support. Resolves appointment process, appointment request, and session matters. Facilitates components and tracking of student staff certification. 70%
Develops, implements, and maintains a continuous improvement assessment plan for Tutoring Services programs. Pulls, manages, and reports data from RAPS/Navigate on regular basis for Tutoring Services. Provides support to university programs, as needed. Keeps learning management system updated with tutor, general study skill, and SI resources. 20%
Participates in professional development activities to stay current with trends in the learning support field. Stays knowledgeable of effective and research-based learning strategies through professional development. Teaches UVC courses as appropriate. Other duties as assigned. 10%
High traffic center with up to a dozen or so one-to-one or small group tutoring sessions during a given hour. Some evenings and weekends required.
