Assist in a wide variety of chairside procedures using the principles of four handed dentistry in pediatric dentistry. Assist with oral examination, charting and operative procedures. Stock and maintain cubicles, prepare instruments for sterilization. Work with dental students, graduate residents and faculty including assisting the dental residents with patient sedation and complex pediatric dental procedures. Obtain patient vitals prior to sedation cases.
Prepare instruments and materials for use by the dentist, enter patient data into the computer system. Expose and process radiographs. Perform additional clinic duties as assigned.
A certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be CPR certified and have radiography certification. Excellent communication skills. Excellent attendance record. Excellent ability to multi-task. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills.
An Associate degree in dental assisting and a (CDA) and/or (RDA). Knowledge of pediatric and orthodontic dental procedures and considerable experience as a pediatric dental assistant capable of working with medically compromised patients and assisting with complex pediatric dental procedures. Experience with School of Dentistry policies and MiDent software.
