Program Associate - Georgetown University International Women's Council
The Program Associate provides essential administrative and event support to the Georgetown University International Women's Council (IWC) and works with members of the IWC to promote women's participation in peace and security, the economy, and political leadership. S/he develops and executes an annual conference at Georgetown, which provides access to inspiring women peace builders from around the world. The incumbent plans and manages the logistics for the 1.5-day conference, including speaker arrangements, site visits, and lodging and meals for Council members. The International Women's Council Program Associate develops and executes an annual international impact travel program, including advance work and support during travel for IWC Members. Reporting to the Director of Communications and External Relations, additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Assists the Director of Communications and External Relations with IWC member correspondence and engagement throughout the year, inviting members to join GIWPS events and apprising them of key GIWPS research and activities.
Helps to develop and execute annual international impact travel program, including advance work and support during travel, which could include meetings and site visits with women peace builders, historic, and cultural excursions.
Helps to develop and execute annual IWC conference at Georgetown, which provides access to inspiring women peacebuilders from around the world.
Communications and Outreach
Manages GIWPS social media accounts (including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Flipboard), and supervises student assistants to track metrics.
Manages GIWPS website including design, drafting language, and updating all pages, working closely with external vendors to conduct technical upgrades to site, ensuring compliance with latest accessibility requirements, and GIWPS visual identity.
Leads production process (including curating content, drafting language, designing layout and disseminating) of newsletters and mass mailings.
2-3 years of related administrative support and event management or closely related experience
Experience in publications, media outreach, website management, drafting press releases, leveraging social media for public relations, and editing blogs
Outstanding writing and editing skills
Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flipboard, Drupal and other similar platforms
A passion for women's empowerment and familiarity with issues related to peace and security are preferred
