Under the direction of Revenue Cycle Leadership, this position is responsible for monitoring accounts through the revenue cycle to successful, accurate and complete payment. This entails ensuring authorizations were accurately obtained prior to service, coding reflects the services authorized, billing is completed timely and without errors, collections are complete, denials management and clinical appeal follow up of outstanding balances for specific accounts categorized by service line are done on a timely basis.
The Revenue Cycle Service Line Manager will identify payer trends and issues, analyze the impact to the organization and take appropriate action. The Revenue Cycle Service Line Manager will read, interpret and apply complex payer contract language to expected reimbursement calculations, and read, interpret and research payer guidelines and corresponding clinical documentation to support medical necessity of service, as well as documenting and monitoring prior authorization workflows and documentation, to assure UC San Diego Health is collecting all payments due to the organization.
A Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare administration or related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.
Five (5+) or more years of working experience within Healthcare Revenue Cycle, Clinic Operations, or other related healthcare setting.
Experience and proven success in the practices, procedures, and concepts of the healthcare revenue cycle and its component operations, including billing, collections, charge capture, contractual adjustments, third-party reimbursements, and cash management.
Proficiency in Epic or other electronic medical record system.
Proficiency with Microsoft office tools, including Excel.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
