The Assistant Director of Immigration & Compliance provides direct services to the international student population on aspects of their stay including, but not limited to: J-1 and F-1 immigration advising, employment advising, health insurance compliance, and status maintenance. The Assistant Director keeps abreast of USCIS regulation changes to ensure university compliance. The Assistant Director also provides leadership and guidance to other immigration advisors within the Kearney Center.
Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel and Counseling, International Education or a related field (conferred on an official transcript at the time of application).
Five years of professional F-1 and J-1 immigration advising experience.
Advanced knowledge of USCIS regulations related to F-1 and J-1 visa holders.
Three years professional supervisory experience.
US Citizenship or lawful permanent residency status is required to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
Familiarity with a third-party, integrative software for managing SEVIS/student records.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
High-level and comprehensive knowledge of F-1 and J-1 regulations.
Demonstrated ability to advise students independently through difficult immigration situations including, but not limited to: employment, termination of status, change of status, loss of scholarship, suspension.
Ability to anticipate potential immigration consequences or opportunities and make appropriate resource referrals while collaborating with immigration advising team.
Demonstrated administrative, organization, and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
Bilingual with excellent oral and written communication skills in a language other than English.
Demonstrated experience with multiple applications in Microsoft Office 365.
Demonstrated strong and positive written, interpersonal and oral communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as a constructive, collaborative member of team efforts, internally and across multiple academic and administrative units.

Working Conditions: May be required to work occasional weekends and evenings to help support Kearney Center for International Student Services programs and services to students and community. Must be willing to adjust personal schedule to meet demands of unexpected crisis, programs, and activities outside the University workday. Flexible scheduling needed during the academic year to meet office needs.
