Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the Assistant Director for CRM Data Analytics & Technology performs critical job functions related to the maintenance of Slate, the Client Relationship Management software used by Montclair State University.Â In this role, the Assistant Director manages all technical aspects of the CRM, ensuring that it is operating at peak performance and according to industry best practices.Â The Assistant Director uses his/her technical expertise to advise on changes to policies, procedures, and recruitment tactics that support the attainment of our aggressive enrollment goals.Â
With a collaborative approach, the Assistant Director engages colleagues within the office and across campus to ensure that Slate is being used to its fullest functionality.Â In this role, the Assistant Director is a knowledge leader who brings to bear keen skills in data analysis and an awareness of current trends.Â
Create and modify queries, reports, lists, and charts using the full suite of analytical tools available at the University (Slate CRM, Tableau, etc.)
Analyze data for use by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
Serve as the system administrator for Slate, the enrollment CRM for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions; enforce data entry standards and audit existing data; manage permissions, user-defined fields, and data codes
Manage and maintain all online applications and inquiry forms related to undergraduate admission
Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director for Marketing & Communications on automated communications, including the creation and maintenance of queries and daily processes
Maintain expert knowledge of CRM and student information system (Slate and Banner), train staff members on system functionality, and troubleshoot admissions module issues
May be responsible for coordinating and/or supervising the work of colleagues and student employees on project-based work
Determine data-related technology needs and manage technology integration with the student information system (as needed)
Collaborate with colleagues across campus on CRM-related decisions; serve as a leader of the campus Slate user group
Serve as office liaison to other data related areas such as Institutional Research and Information Technology (as needed)
Serve as technical liaison with third party vendors as needed

Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelorâ™s degree.
Minimum of two years of direct technical experience managing a CRM for a complex organization
Demonstrated ability working with relational databases, and interpreting, analyzing and reporting data
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in a technical environment
Advanced user experience with Microsoft Excel
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to manage change and engage with constituents across campus
Periodic weekend and evening hours to support programmatic activities
A valid driverâ™s license and full-time access to reliable transportation is required.
Degree or other formal professional training related to computer science, information technology, or a related field
Professional experience in admissions/higher educationÂ
Demonstrated experience with Document Management Systems
Experience with admissions application management
Excellent technical writing and communication skills, with specific skills in creating step-by-step instructions for technical activities
Experience training non-technical staff and creating job aides and business process workflows
Detail-oriented work style
Fluency in a language other than English
Direct experience with Slate and Banner is highly desired.
