Job PurposeTowson University is accepting applications for an Administrative Assistant II to oversee the daily routine and operation of the Department of Early Childhood Education, providing primary secretarial and administrative assistance to the Department Chair. The Administrative Assistant II will anticipate the Chair's course of action and facilitate problem resolution, ensuring confidentiality and timely responses.
Under general supervision, provide complex administrative support to the Early Childhood Education chair, faculty members, and staff. Specific responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining paper and electronic filing systems which meet department needs and satisfy requirements for retention and information security; entering, updating, and retrieving information from a variety of mediums as needed; assisting new faculty with onboarding; creating reports, correspondence, documents, and schedules incorporating edits from multiple reviewers; communicating with students, external partners, and internal partners in a timely and professional manner; distributing departmental communication to all faculty on behalf of the department chair; administering department and foundation budgets; generating and monitoring the timely processing of contracts for faculty members; serving as travel coordinator; and maintaining the departmental directory, event calendar, current forms, documents, and reports in the department’s drive.
High school diploma or equivalent and three years of experience providing administrative support. The selected candidate must be able to clearly demonstrate a commitment to strong customer service, organization, and initiative; ability to research and apply department procedures and policies; evidence of effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders; computer proficiency with experience researching and compiling data and information into reports and other documents; and demonstrated experience with executing multiple and competing assignments while meeting the customer's needs.
Preferred: Associates degree and experience working in K-12 or higher education.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

Salary and Benefits$37,157 annually and full University benefits that include annual leave, up to 14 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
