Directs and provides oversight and management of the accounting, including the proper recording of receipts and disbursements, for externally funded grants and contracts awarded to the University. Audits reports and expenditures to ensure they are in compliance with established accounting principles and federal, state and private grant guidelines and regulations.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
Audits and maintains federal, state and privately sponsored research grants.
Assists faculty, administrators and staff with transaction issues, interpreting grant guidelines, policies and contracts, cash flow or any other issues related to the administration of grant funds.
Acts as functional lead for on-line accounting and financial system (FMS) for the grants module suite; troubleshoot transactional problems, test maintenance pack changes to financial system and propose and monitor changes within the system related to grants.
Certify all individual grant related financial reporting on behalf of BGSU.
Transmit Monthly expenditure/cash draws for federal grants and Financial Aid.
Prepares and reviews quarterly expenditure and cash accountability reports for federal sponsoring agencies.
Manages and monitors outstanding accounts receivable for grants and contracts and prioritizes the collection process for staff.
Prepares annual expenditure report related to externally sponsored grants for financial reporting purposes.
Manage and assist external auditors for the annual A-133 audit of federally sponsored grants.
Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
Record of previous involvement in grant activity.
Knowledge of federal policies, procedures, and compliance/regulations relating to grants and contracts.
Capable of working with large main-frame (server) computer systems and developing new and Innovative applications.
Current knowledge of PC computer environments and software such as Excel and Word.
Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to research federal and state regulations on the internet.
Full-time, Administrative staff position available. Administrative Grade Level 358. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefit package available.

Bachelor's Degree required in accounting, finance or other related field. Successful candidate must have Bachelor’s degree conferred at the time of application.

Three to five years’ experience in grants accounting with at least two years in grants administration.
