Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Admissions, Special Events, the Events Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting Undergraduate Admissions events on and off campus (Saturday Tours, Admitted Student Tours, Counselor Tours), including day-to-day tour activities taking place on-campus and advising prospective students on admissions requirements. The Events Coordinator cultivates, develops, and manages volunteers (alumni, current students, faculty, etc.) who assist Undergraduate Admissions in recruitment, outreach, and yield activities. Develops training materials, designates assignments, and evaluates the effectiveness of admissions volunteers, ensuring alignment with unit/campus goals. Works closely with admissions personnel conducting outreach activities in specific geographic areas (CA, out of state and internationally) in the assignment of volunteers to represent the campus at designated events. Supports campus Tours Manager with day-to-day guest experience logistics, including student staff supervision, welcoming guests, answering questions, and general tours function support as directed. Conduct general admissions advising sessions for students, providing information about UC programs, admissions policies, and requirements. Assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing outreach and yield activities, including California and out-of-state admitted student receptions. Represents the UC system and assists campus colleagues with other outreach efforts, including staffing UC events at a regional, state, and national level, including fairs and conferences. Participates in the annual review of frosh and transfer applications, ensuring consistent admissions evaluations.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions generates, reviews, and processes in excess of 67,000 applications and serves approximately 38,000 campus visitors each year. The office has 44 career staff FTE, 45-50 part-time/temporary staff, and 150 student staff. Staff work locally and regionally throughout California and the nation. The office is part of Enrollment Management, which includes Financial Aid and Scholarships, Orientation and Undergraduate Admissions. Enrollment Management is part of the multi-faceted academic Division of Undergraduate Education. Undergraduate Admissions, Enrollment Management and Undergraduate Education work closely with select Academic Senate committees.
