Involves providing administrative support and oversight for an executive, including the coordination of communications and pertinent data among a group of the executive's subordinate management staff. Performs and / or oversees special projects or assignments that are highly sensitive or complex in nature, requiring a high level of independence and initiative in execution and implementation. Handles details and oversees the work of a highly confidential and critical nature to support the executive on matters of significance.
Under the general direction of the chief of staff, the Executive Assistant will provide executive level services and support to the Dean and the Office of the Dean. The Executive Assistant will coordinate schedules and calendars, communications and business administrative services. The incumbent must have strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The position requires the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced business environment. The incumbent will work in an environment of heavy workloads, pressing deadlines and shifting priorities where a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity to issues is present. Work must be done promptly and accurately. The ability to adapt to constantly shifting priorities, while managing strict and sometimes competing deadlines and unexpected urgent situations is necessary.
UCSC Extension (UNEX) is a division of the University of California, Santa Cruz, comprised of continuing education, workforce development, college preparation, and standard assessment. The division has an operating budget of $40M-$45M, 350 faculty instructors, and 110+ full time staff. As an auxiliary unit of the University, UCSC Extension is responsible for managing its operations to a high degree of financial accountability.
