The School of Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications and nominations for a full time faculty position Director of Instructional Technology.
1.Collaborate with School of Nursing and University leadership to design, implement, and support innovation in distant accessible programs and course development. 2.Serve on the leadership team of the Office of Technology and Innovation to develop, implement, and evaluate innovative educational initiatives across educational modalities. 3.Collaborate with the leadership team of the Office of Technology and Innovation to develop and execute comprehensive educational technology training for students and faculty. 4.Serve as System Administrator for systems related to deployment and management of distance accessible courses, such as: Instructure Canvas Academic and Continuing Education systems, Kaltura Streaming Media Server, ProctorU Testing System, Destiny Solutions Registration System (CE Programs), and maintain necessary updates, configurations, and security practices for nursing programs. 5.Maintain security of student and faculty data and develop strategies to prevent and mitigate efforts to subvert security safeguards. 6.Isolate, research, and resolve complex problems or issues with distance accessible courses in coordination with University liaisons and administrators. 7.Evaluate and recommend innovative use of new and emerging technologies to maintain and enhance state-of-the art educational programs. 8.Participate in relevant technology, education, and leadership related professional development opportunities. 9.Collect and analyze data, develop reports, improve quality, and develop strategic goals related to distance accessible programs and courses. 10.Assist with evaluation, design, and implementation of emerging technologies deployed by/for the Office of Technology and Innovation. 11.Ensure compliance with University procedures, guidelines, and policies related to distance education administration and security. 12.Lead instructional design team to develop team collaboration, expertise, and progress toward distance accessible program and Office of Technology and Innovation goals. Evaluate performance of design team employees and complete annual evaluations. 13.Coordinate with the Office of Student Success to manage distance education course enrollment exceptions and cross listings. 14.Respond to technical situations outside of the standard work schedule.

Coverdell Peace Corps Fellows program and is one of the leading VA Nursing Academic Partnerships in the nation. Candidates for this faculty position must have a Master's degree in a relevant field is required. A minimum of six years of related technical experience engaging with administrators, educators, and support personnel in the creative use of technology. Must be a strategic thinker with strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, and the enthusiasm and credibility to create and sustain momentum in the appropriate use of educational technology. Must have excellent computer skills with the demonstrated ability to think creatively while leading and managing change in a positive and inclusive manner, with a diverse faculty.
Current knowledge of instructional design theory and practice, significant experience in the design, delivery, and evaluation of distance accessible courses, a working knowledge of exam development and analysis is preferred. Must have the ability to work collaboratively in complex teams, excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work closely with school administrators to ensure the distance education program and services meet educational needs for SON Programs.
