The position will support the day-to-day operations of Disability Services by determining, providing, or arranging for the provision of appropriate academic accommodations and adaptive and assistive technology supports as determined in the eligibility process. In association with, and in the absence of the Associate Director, the position will meet with students, accept and review disability related documentation and make decisions regarding eligibility for accommodations.
The Coordinator will:
Review confidential medical, psychiatric, IEPs, 504 plans, and other reports associated with disability.
Interface with faculty to determine appropriate supports in and outside of the classroom.
Make recommendations to faculty in regard to reasonable accommodations.
Maintain a schedule of accommodated student exams to be taken in the Disability Services Lab and the Special Services Lab in Sherrod Library.
Maintain/oversee exam integrity for the process.
Review and make recommendations for purchasing technology supports that meet student accommodation needs.
Maintain current technology and software used in the Disability Services lab.
Oversee, coordinate, and approve the requests for and distribution of alternate format text and class materials.
Oversee and coordinate the provision of sighted guide for blind students as needed.
Assist the Director and Associate Director as needed with campus awareness initiatives, training, and events.
