The Agricultural Education and Agricultural Sciences department is seeking an Administrative Manager. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.
This position provides administrative support to the Department Head and faculty, staff in the Agricultural Education and Agricultural Sciences department. It is primarily responsible for managing the administrative operations/activities in order to handle the critical and confidential matters related to various issues or projects. This position ensures that vital interactions with state and federal agencies, private industries, other stakeholders and the public are effectively and efficiently maintained including representing the department in meetings and events at the local and regional level. In addition, this position serves at the will of the office of the College of Agricultural Sciences Dean, and also acts as a liaison between the Department and the Program Leader's offices and college departments, business centers and programs to coordinate activities and improve communications.
Typically requires Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years' experience providing administrative support to an administrator
At least three years of administrative experience with progressing responsibility.
Ability to multi-task within an environment of constantly changing demands, expectations, high volume of in person and electronic communication and widely varied duties throughout the academic year.
Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to changes, and respond appropriately to competing demands in a timely manner.
Demonstrated computer hardware and software proficiency for a variety of data management platforms and higher education software suites.
Highly developed diplomatic and professional communication skills; verbal and written.
Ability to work with individuals from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to supervise and work as a team member with faculty, professional colleagues, students and engaged community members.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, evaluate, manage and delegate within the office environment. Ability to think constructively and creatively while under established timelines, across multiple concurrent projects and programs.
Ability to make independent decisions and recommendations, and act as a departmental resource.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
