Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Assistant Statistician for the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology within the School of Public Health. The Assistant Statistician will provide statistical and study/research design support to investigators throughout Rutgers University, in coordination with the Rutgers University Biostatistics and Epidemiology Services (RUBIES) Manager and Faculty Director.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assists in conducting statistical and power analysis/calculations for research projects/IRB applications/grant proposals.
Assists with handling datasets generated in research studies.
Assists clients with project/program research and study designs.
Under direction, may assist RUBIES' team/investigators by contributing towards manuscript publications.
Assists RUBIES in tracking requests and maintaining adequate records.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in Statistics, Biometrics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Computational Biology or a related field plus one (1) year of related experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Proficiency and working knowledge of Unix, SAS, SPSS, R, etc.
Strong quantitative skills.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication is essential.
Experience with REDCap, GIS spatial analysis, and large databases is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift or exert force up to 25 pounds.
Travels regularly to all campuses for meetings.
Maintains flexible schedule of hours to accommodate deadlines.
Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license for travel between university campuses.
Salary: PS23 scale: $57,949-$82,366
