Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory is seeking a full time Associate Research Physicist (at post-doctoral level) in the area of fusion plasma computation and theory. The applicant should have a completed Ph.D in the area of plasma physics or a related field.
The applicant will participate in research efforts sponsored by the SciDAC Center of Tokamak Disruption Simulation which aims to provide physics insights into tokamak disruption and its mitigation - a top research priority for magnetic fusion. The successful candidate will be involved in developing state of the art integrated kinetic model and simulation capabilities, including the electromagnetic gyrokinetic simulation of MHD, for thermal quench dynamics and associated physics studies, and is expected to work on code development, verification and validation.
It is preferred that the candidate has fundamental knowledge on fusion plasma physics and has substantial experience in code development and kinetic or fluid simulations. The initial appointment will be for two years, with renewal for the third year based on availability of resources and performance.
