The Student Communications Coordinator reports to the Director, Enrollment and Retention, and falls under the Office of Enrollment Management department within the Academic Programs group of DCE. This person will work with departments that serve students from Harvard Extension and Harvard Summer Schools. They will play a crucial role in helping to articulate each student type's journey through the management of all related communications. The Coordinator will work with multiple stakeholders to consistently plan, design and develop content to ensure the brand, mission, and image of DCE are maintained.
The Coordinator evaluates the student experience against the communication plans developed and make suggestions for improvements based on feedback and usability analysis. This information is disseminated to all the stakeholders and will document, promote, and train partners/clients on policies and best practices. This position will research best practices on message, use of language and effective modalities. The Coordinator will develop common taxonomies and vocabularies to be shared across departments and channels. As a result, the Coordinator will need to stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technology, and media channel.
This position will partner with various departments including Marketing and MIS on developing the technology needed to communicate with students, and will also optimize available communication channels and suggest new methods of communication including email, text, chat, and web.
The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) comprises several entities serving about 30,000 students annually. The Harvard Extension School, the Harvard Summer School, the Harvard Professional Development Programs and the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement allow Harvard to serve the learning needs of students across their life. For more than a century, Harvard Extension School has made Harvard faculty and teaching accessible to a diverse community of local, national, and international students. Harvard Extension School enrolls approximately 16,000 students per year in approximately 46 graduate and undergraduate liberal arts and professional fields. More than 1,500 open enrollment courses are offered year-round with over 600 available online are offered at affordable prices to our communities across the world. Harvard Summer School offers approximately 450 courses on the Harvard Campus to 10,000 secondary school, college and adult learners and more than 30 international study abroad programs for up to 600 students each summer. The Division also includes the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement with approximately 550 active members and Harvard Professional Development Programs offering 80 short noncredit courses to almost 4,000 learners annually.
