Hofstra Universityâ€™s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (HCLAS) is seeking an Assistant/Associate Dean for Student Academic Affairs to be responsible for all matters related to student degree requirements and academic records. The Assistant/Associate Dean also represents HCLAS on the University Academic Affairs Committee, the Academic Review Committee, and various academic integrity committees. Within HCLAS, the Assistant/Associate Dean is the advisor to the Standards & Review Committee, the General Education Outcomes Assessment Task Force, and is coordinator of outcomes assessment for academic departments, interdisciplinary majors, and general education. The incumbent collaborates with the Provostâ€™s Office, the Center for University Advisement, the HCLAS Dean, other associate deans, departmental chairs, and members of the HCLAS staff in supporting the needs of students and faculty as well as interfacing with other schools on academic issues.
The Assistant/Associate Dean attends Admissions events that occasionally occur on weekends, meets regularly with the Dean to review short-term and long-term projects, and meets regularly with Deanâ€™s Office administrators to review HCLAS initiatives and projects. The Assistant/Associate Dean is called upon to represent the Dean from time to time at various meetings and events and collaborates extensively with all members of the Deanâ€™s Office and with administration, faculty, and staff on special projects and on ad hoc committees and task forces.
The Assistant/Associate Dean for Student Academic Affairs is supervised directly by the Dean of Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and supervises the senior assistant secretary.
