Maryland Institute for Policy, Analysis, and Research (MIPAR)
MIPAR is part of the Center for Social Science Scholarship at UMBC. MIPAR is the principal unit for social science and public policy research at UMBC. MIPAR provides grant administration support to Social Science research faculty.
At the direction of the Business Manager, the incumbent will provide pre- and post-award administration including assisting with budget preparation for proposals, payroll preparation and reconciliation, procurement, and recording and monitoring expenditures. Specific duties include:
Assisting with the preparation of budgets for grant proposal submissions
Procurement, including P-card transactions, utilizing the PAWS procurement system and HR Finance
Processing and reconciling payroll and time entry and resolving errors.
Recruitment and hiring, including position management, researching HR processes, utilizing University systems (PageUp, PeopleSoft HR, etc), submitting new hire paperwork, following HR and Payroll calendars and meeting deadlines for timely payments.
Recording and monitoring post-award and departmental financial expenditures via departmental tracking systems, including spreadsheets and online system, and utilizing PeopleSoft reports to reconcile expenses regularly.
Performing other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in accounting or business-related field
At least one year of experience in a business related field is required. Proficiency in spreadsheet applications is a must. Must have strong math and analytical thinking skills with an ability to solve problems and handle multiple and complex tasks. Proven ability to work with relevant software technologies is strongly desired. Strong customer service skills and ability to work well with external agencies, University administrators, faculty and staff required.
Prior experience working with software programs such as PeopleSoft and Kuali is preferred.
Experience in higher education preferred.

This is a contractual position and is for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
