Seeking a full-time TN licensed Registered Nurse to work day hours.
Direct Patient Care Duties: Interview patient to determine reason for visit; Perform assessment procedures (e.g. temperature, blood pressure, vision screening, etc.) as indicated by patient's symptoms; Initiate nursing preliminary treatment plan by providing assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and formulates a plan of care based on initial assessment; Anticipate physician's needs based on findings; Perform nursing procedures as indicated based on skill level and/or assist physician with examinations, procedures, and treatments as needed, ensuring necessary equipment/supplies are available; Obtain consent forms when indicated; Serve as chaperone when indicated; Perform EKGs as ordered; Obtain lab results, informs physician when available; Administer medication and/or refers patient to the Injection Room as ordered; Call prescriptions to pharmacies as directed by physician; Make appropriate entries into patient's medical record; Assist with emergency medical situations; Schedule appointments with consultants as indicated; Perform follow-up of all referrals; Schedule and coordinate routine physical and pelvic exams with daily activities when requested; Advise patients regarding questions/concerns based on nursing judgment and/or established physician routines/instructions; Reinforce and clarify physician instructions as needed; Expedite appropriate charges as indicated and advises patients of expenses for which they are responsible; Check medical records to ascertain completed diagnostic reports are present, forwards to physician for review/follow-up and closure of record.
Indirect Patient Care Duties: Restock and maintain supplies in patient care area; Electronically assemble medical record in proper sequence; Prepare exam rooms for next patients; Clean exam room surfaces with disinfectant for infection control; Prepare soiled instruments/equipment for pick up by housekeeping staff for sterile processing; Record all cultures and pathology specimens in log book and provides follow-up and appropriate instructions on all abnormal findings; Retrieve/return culture plates from/to laboratory at beginning/end of work day; Copy patient education materials as needed; Remain in building during lunch and at 4:30 p.m. when "on call" for urgent care and/or acutely ill patients; Answer telephone, confer with and/or refer calls to physician as indicated.
Knowledge of basic human anatomy, medical coding including CPT and ICD-10 diagnosis codes, and nursing license limitations; Ability to practice infection control methods in a health care facility, type, utilize a Windows based computer system, administer injections, and maintain all medical records information with strict confidentiality.
