The Erlebacher group at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) is developing and building a demonstration system for methane decomposition to solid carbon and hydrogen gas. This new technology - funded by ARPA-E and industrial partners - holds promise to make significant progress in efficient fossil fuel utilization without carbon dioxide emissions. We are looking to quickly grow a team of 3-4 post-doctoral researchers with expertise across a spectrum of skills in chemical engineering and materials science to work on this program. We will be conducting this research project in a JHU-affiliated facility in Columbia, MD. Specific skills we are looking for include:
Reactor design, construction, and operation, especially recirculating reactors
Solids handling and characterization, especially nanocarbons
Reactor and process modeling using ASPEN and/or COMSOL.
We are looking for team members at the post-doctoral level. We will be conducting this research project in a JHU-affiliated facility in Columbia, MD.

Competitive applicants will hold a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline, with prior experience in reactor design, operation, construction, or modeling. Duties and responsibilities will include designing and performing experiments, reactor operation, data analysis, and reporting progress in organized formats. Experience in computer controlled machining, equipment fabrication, and/or programming is helpful. An ability to work independently as well as in a team environment toward timely execution of program goals is required.
