Department Description Occupational Health Services is a Campus-based medical clinic that provides treatment for work-related injuries and illness, work-related preventive medicine services to include a large variety of animal care and research programs, OSHA and departmentally-mandated medical surveillance programs. These responsibilities include all aspects of medical supervision for clinical care, nursing services, professional and peer patient education programs, physical therapy, ergonomics, medical services for travel program, campus wellness programs, clinical diagnostics including laboratory and oversite of radiology services, clinical quality management and risk management, medical research, continuing medical education, certifications, regulatory compliance, and professional development. Serves in a leadership role as campus medical advisor on employee health and safety issues relating to campus environmental health, animal care, hazards associated with laboratory research safety and communicable disease, infection control and prevention, medical surveillance, disaster planning and regional medical community to assure integrated public health services and coordinated consultative specialty, emergency and tertiary care services for employees. As a member of the Safety Services senior management team, participates in the development of the overall strategic plan and key policy provisions for the organization and Occupational Health. As a member of the medical staff, participates in the comprehensive clinical activities of the program. Professional experience as a licensed physician.
Experience in Occupational Medicine.
Holds current California Medical License.
Possess a current DEA Certification.
Possess a current CPR Certification.
Strong knowledge of the HIPAA laws and regulations.
Knowledge of workers' compensation law and processes.
Knowledge of applicable State and Federal law, including laws and regulations related to privacy and confidentiality
Skill to analyze needs, establishing priorities, and provide appropriate medical care and preventative medicine services to the Campus community.
Outstanding leadership and interpersonal communications skills.
Strong political and institutional acumen sufficient to accomplish needed action in a complex public research university environment.
Computer and keyboarding skills to use an Electronic Medical Records software program.
Two years experience in an occupational health care setting.
Board Certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Occupational Medicine.
Knowledge of University and campus policies and procedures.
Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills in large and small group settings.
Familiar with occupational health clinic practice management philosophies.
Certification as X-ray Supervisor and Operation (State of California, Department of Health Services)
Certified Yellow Fever Vaccine Provider
Certified Professional Supervisor of the Audiometric Monitoring Program
National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners
Vaccinated for Vaccinia (Small Pox)
