Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Associate Chief Nursing Officer (Heme Malignancies), for the Nursing Services department at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO), in collaboration with other service, discipline, departmental and corporate colleagues, assures that competent, compassionate patient care is provided consistently for patients and families in inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings; and is ultimately held accountable for nursing care quality, fiscal accountability, human resource and satisfaction outcomes at the unit and service level.
The ACNO, in collaboration with staff and other leaders, selects, mentors and develops front line nursing leaders and then supports and directs those leaders in the development, implementation and evaluation of standards, policies, programs, and services consistent with the mission of RCINJ’s and RWJBH’s vision and philosophy. As a member of the nursing executive leadership team, the ACNO participates in the efficient and effective leadership of the Department of Nursing at RCINJ and Nursing across the oncology service line of RWJBH, and in development of strategic plans for the both and related patient care activities.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Participates in formulating the Department's and organization's vision and strategic plan.
Communicates and operationalizes the strategic plan and can link the plan to tangible outcomes.
Attracts, retains and develops the best and brightest leadership team inclusive of attention to career advancement of direct reports and developing a bench for future leadership opportunities.
Establishes and maintains an environment conducive to excellence in patient care and a learning safety culture.
Establishes and maintains an environment that is supportive of professional nursing practice.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Current or eligibility for registration in nursing in the State of New Jersey.
BSN with a Master's degree in a related field will be considered.
Minimum of 10 years of nursing experience.
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in nursing administration.
Previous experience in oncology nursing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Current certification required or to be attained within two-year period from date of hire.
Certification must be maintained while employed in this position.
Must have demonstrated ability in management of diverse activities pertaining to a patient service line or clinical programs.
Expert interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be able to manage personal responses to frequent stress of critical issues relating to patient care, changing organizational climates and personnel issues.
Ability to respond to common inquiries from patients and respond effectively to most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, customers, and/or the general public.
Outstanding human relations and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment.
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
MSN, DNP or PhD strongly preferred.
