These positions will manage all accounting and fiscal activities for programs that serve first-generation, economically disadvantaged and under-represented students. These positions will process and audit financial transactions for accuracy and validity; monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with federal (Department of Education) and state guidelines as well as MSU Manual of Business Procedures and MAU43 policies and procedures; prepare monthly financial statements from general fund, gift and research accounts; assist with budget preparation; coordinate personnel forms and payroll for labor employees; serve as liaison to Unit Directors on finance and human resource matters.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Accounting; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial statement and report preparation, general ledger, accounting and budgeting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business. Experience with EBS systems including KFS, SAP, BI, and Query Studio; knowledge of MSU Manual of Business Procedures; knowledge of MSU hiring policies and procedures; knowledge of MSU payroll processes; knowledge of and/or previous experience working with Department of Education grants; ability to complete work accurately and meet deadlines in a fast-faced environment. Ability to to read, write and communicate fluently in Spanish. Ability to work well under pressure with a variety of stakeholders.
