CIT is looking for two Systems Administrators to join our Cloud Operations team. The primary focus is on virtual servers provisioned in a VMware environment as well as in AWS and Azure. It will also include supporting storage services, data protection services, and cloud infrastructure services. This can be considered a SAGE Level II position in a large, complex environment.
Duties will include:
Provisioning and deprovisioning linux and/or Windows virtual servers
Standard configuration changes (storage allocation, networks, firewalls, memory, user access) in response to customer requests
Troubleshooting in response to customer problem reports or monitoring system alerts
Proactive maintenance of operating system environments
Maintenance of on-prem compute and storage hardware, including coordination with vendor support representatives for break/fix work
Consulting with customers to determine proper configurations to meet business needs
Feedback on needed improvements to operational and customer documentation for supported services
Maintenance of system configuration documentation
This position includes participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours coverage and will require some work outside of standard business hours. In support of this, the ability to participate in and resolve after-hours call rotation issues is necessary.
We are looking for candidates who are seeking to develop their skills and are interested in systems administration and cloud technologies, including those looking to move into systems administration from other technical support areas. You will need:
Bachelor's degree and up to 2 years of experience with linux and/or Windows systems administration, or equivalent experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Independent problem-solving ability and self-direction
Familiarity with TCP/IP networking
A strong interest in using and learning about cloud technologies
If you have any of the following, it's a great bonus:
Ability to write scripts in an administrative language such as Perl, Python, or PowerShell
Experience with production systems administration and operations in a cloud environment
Familiarity with Windows system management via SCCM, WSUS, and GPOs
Familiarity with configuration management tools such as cfengine, puppet, and Terraform
Familiarity with modern version control systems such as git
Relevant certifications such as MTA/MSCA, RHCSA/RHCE, AWS Sysops Administrator, or Azure AZ-103
