Job Description Summary

Interacts daily with individuals with a variety of technology expertise, exercising independent judgment in determining how to best meet their needs.
The IT Support Specialist B supports multiple departments and works as part of the School of Arts & Sciences Computing team. Working with a range of desktop and research technologies, the position operates in close collaboration with others on the team and also demonstrates the ability to work independently to solve a varied range of technical issues. Works closely with faculty, staff, and graduate students and advises on technical solutions that draw from supported technologies to meet their needs.
Provides technology services, involving hardware and/or software, to users. This may include: desktop, mobile devices, servers, classroom and/or research technology, software and systems. Interacts daily with individuals with a variety of technology expertise, exercising independent judgment in determining how to best meet their needs. Analyzes functional requirements and advises users in the planning, selection, implementation and use of solutions to address business requirements. Take the lead in testing and evaluation and extension of new and/or existing technologies and may make recommendations. Build relationships with users, assess needs and may include consulting on innovative technologies. May develop and deliver instructional programs and prepare resources for end users. May lead projects.
Qualifications Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and modern MacOS versions required. Experience with machine management with Active Directory preferred, and experience with BigFix desirable. Ability to work with a range of clients with varying levels of technological skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to work through projects in a detail-oriented and persistent manner required, as well as excellent time management and organizational skills. The ideal candidate is excited about collaborating on project-centered teams with colleagues and makes an effort to understand and aid in issues facing the overall organization.
