The Alzheimer's Disease Drug Discovery (ADDD) Center in collaboration with Dr. Kun Huang in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Core seeks a Post-Doctoral Fellow. Highly motivated individuals with a PhD in the area of computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, biology, engineering and/or related areas are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a background in translational bioinformatics or computer aided drug design with experience in one or more areas of gene network analysis, integrative genomics, proteomics and metabolomics, imaging genomics, and drug repurposing and target discovery are desired. Experience with applications of data mining, machine learning and artificial intelligence methods in bioinformatics is a plus. The Postdoctoral fellow will work with Drs. Kun Huang and Jie Zhang as well as other investigators on developing and implementing advanced bioinformatics and systems biology methods for analyzing and integrating data from multiple resources including (but not limited to) AMP-AD, MODEL-AD, ADNI, and ABA to generate new hypothesis regarding ranking of the AMP-AD list, addition candidate targets associated with the AMP-AD target list and new potential targets.
About our lab: Our laboratory focuses on developing advanced bioinformatics, imaging, machine learning, and visualization tools for integrating multimodalities of biomedical data for disease biomarker and drug target discovery in diseases such as cancers and neurological diseases. We reside in the Department of Medicine as part of the Data Science and Informatics, Precision Health Initiative.
About the ADDD Center: The strategic goal of the Indiana University School of Medicine Alzheimer's Disease Drug Discovery (ADDD) Center is to integrate sophisticated capability for early drug discovery and contribute to a more broad study of emerging Alzheimer's Disease target hypotheses (beyond Ab) with the goal of generating new classes of potential therapeutics. Specifically, the ADDD Center will establish itself as a strategic and operational partner for the NIAAMP-AD and MODEL-AD initiatives. By design, this will provide drug discovery capability to bridge the foundational work in target discovery (AMP-AD) with newly discovered lead molecules characterized in AD animal models based on human pathology, genetics and translational biomarkers (MODEL-AD). Collaborating sites include Indiana University, Purdue University, and University of Pittsburgh.
