The University Director of International Student Services is the University's primary designated school official (PDSO) working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the U.S. Department of State, responsible for compliance with immigration, naturalization and government regulations. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, the University Director supervises the design, planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of international student services and programs for the Office of International Student Services for the university. This position has full responsibility for: administration; budget control; coordination and supervision of the advisement for the university's non-immigrant students, visiting students and professors, and research scholars; interpretation of immigration, naturalization and government regulations; the F1/J1 program for scholars and faculty; and maintaining appropriate liaison with university and U.S. government personnel. The Assistant Director of International Student Services, International Student Advisor, Administrative Assistants, plus student employees report to this position.
1.Master’s degree preferred, (preferably in a related field of study) or a minimum of four years of working with international students in an academic or agency setting.
2.3 – 5 years of experience in college or university administration preferred.
3.A demonstrated familiarity with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of State regulations.
4.Strong organization and communication skills.
5.A demonstrated sensitivity to needs of a multicultural constituency.
6.Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
7.Knowledge of international tax law related to student earnings. General familiarity with U.S. federal laws governing international students and scholars.
8.Valid driver's license and accessibility to a car for travel between campuses.
9.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
