The Director of the Work Based Learning Program is responsible for the creation, implementation and promotion of a strong work-based student experience; collaboration with regional partners; identification of new and emerging training opportunities that align with industry workforce needs and creation of programming that intentionally supports the transition from high school to adulthood. The Director will navigate as the liaison between apprentices/students, employers, parents, career academies and program partners to facilitate a high-quality work-based learning experience.
The Director will support apprentice/student success in and through the program, taking a whole-person approach to educational and social programs focused on a sense of belonging, well-being, career readiness, global citizenship, sustainability and life-long learning. The Director will focus on creating a progressive program that includes but is not limited to: financial literacy and planning, character and leadership formation, life planning and management, career and professional development and life in the workplace.
The Director will be responsible for meeting with work-based supervisors and mentors, in addition to education advisors. Knowing and meeting with the students and parents on a regular basis to serve as a resource and monitor progress.

Work Place Collaboration/Liaison
Develop and facilitate all aspects of the Work Based Learning Program.
Develop and maintain local and regional partnerships with business and industry, workforce and economic development agencies and a variety of education and training organizations.
Identify new and emerging employee training opportunities that align with economic market trends and industry workforce needs.
Serve as the lead for mentor/manager/apprentice/student relations.
Develop and implement mentorship curriculum for registered mentors and managers.
Complete on-site visits with students at their apprenticeship location.
Lead the steering committee of community, school and Central constituents to manage the success of the program.
Coordinate the planning and implementation of a variety of social, educational and transitional programs for students.
Supports student success through programming of whole-person training of health/wellness, financial literacy, character and leadership, civic engagement and service.
Oversee/assist with the physical setup, technical aspects and execution of events.
Intentionally seek out collaborative opportunities with campus, community and regional personnel.
Implement mentor/mentee training for professional development of apprentices/students in variety of situations for success upon program completion.
Serve as an academic advisor for apprentices/students to ensure proper AAS and life skills/professional development coursework is met.
Coordinate efforts between students and the businesses to qualify as apprentices ie; strength test requirements.
Serve as main point of contact for Work Based Learning Program events, such as orientations, parent nights, student and staff information sessions.
Meet with students to monitor and address progress and discuss any concerns.
Recruit students into the Work Based Learning Program. Coordinate qualifying components.
Understand and support campus-wide policies and procedures as they relate to the Work Based Learning Program.
Market program to external audiences including businesses, schools, community organizations and other educational, government and workforce entities.
Manage the Work Based Learning Steering Group to ensure program stability and progress.
Develop and manage a process for assessment, continuous improvement and feedback from stakeholders, including established method of records management.
Deliver information and serve as a resource to students/parents regarding all on-campus policies and protocols.
Promote the best practices and trends around existing national registered apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs.
Oversee and engage in responsible and strategic budget management.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
This position regularly requires evening and weekend hours.
Local and regional travel required.
Bachelor's degree required. Three to five years professional experience in a college or business setting and previous programmatic leadership preferred. Demonstrated ability for excellent problem- solving skills as well as strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in technology skills related to advertising, promotion. Commitment to the practice of open and effective communication with students, mentors, partners and staff to build and maintain collaborative relationships. Excellent customer service and ability to work in a team-based environment. Ability to work nights and weekends.
Conversant in Spanish preferred with an understanding of changing workforce needs and student populations.
