The Assistant Manager of Technical Services will be responsible for assisting the Manager of Technical Services with the supervision and management of daily operations of Technical Services in William Pitt Union and O'Hara Student Center.
The Assistant Manager assists with the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, evaluation, and scheduling of all Technical Services student staff. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for the setup and operation of equipment used for events and training student staff on proper equipment set up and usage.
The incumbent also: - Meets with clients in planning stages of events to determine technical needs and answer any questions - Assists with the planning and execution of approximately 3,000 events annually, to ensure clients' needs are met - Consults with and makes recommendations to Manager of Technical Services for upgrades or replacement of equipment
The Assistant Manager assists with administrative tasks including processing payroll, purchasing equipment and supplies, and developing policies and procedures. The Assistant Manager routinely meets with clients in regard to questions, concerns, and scheduled events to ensure client satisfaction. This position also prepares setups and schedule for student staff. The Assistant Manager assists with Division of Student Affairs and Student Life projects, programs, and events as needed.
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of equivalent experience required; familiarity with audio/visual concepts are essential. Extensive experience with live event support/live audio mixing is required. Experience in hiring, training and managerial knowledge is essential. Other requirements include: excellent customer service skills, strong interpersonal and leadership skills; the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships, the ability to interpret and enforce policies.
