The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Childrenâs Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine at Childrenâs Hospital Los Angeles are actively seeking a full time faculty member for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology (Clinician Educator).
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing anesthesia care in a well-established national program caring for over 800 bypass cases, 200 other cardiac surgeries, 450 cardiac catheterizations and MRIs, and consultation for children with congenital heart disease undergoing non-cardiac anesthesia.Â The Heart Institute treats all congenital heart diseases with a large hypoplastic left heart syndrome population, heart transplantation, ECMO, lung transplantation, hybrid procedures and all aspects of cardiac care working closely with intensivists, surgeons, nurses and cardiologists. This service is committed to a comprehensive team approach integrated into The Heart Institute which includes cardiology, surgery, critical care and anesthesiology.
ACCM currently trains over 150 residents from many Southern California anesthesia programs and has a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship for 12 fellows annually as well as 12 critical care fellows.Â Academic and research interest is also sought. Applicants must have completed a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship and have additional training and or experience in pediatric cardiac anesthesiology.Â Additional training in pediatrics and pediatric critical care is desirable but not necessary.Â Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with training and experience.Â
Childrenâs Hospital Los Angeles is a 360 bed tertiary Children's Hospital voted the "Best Pediatric Hospital in the West" for 10 successive years and serves as a quaternary referral center for the Western United States and the Pacific Basin.Â All medical specialties are represented.Â The Department of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine is responsible for 22,000 anesthetics per year with over 1000 heart cases and for the care of over 2,500 ICU admissions.Â Â USC was selected as Time Magazine's University of the Year 2000.Â The University and the Hospital are AA/EOE employers.
