Additional Info: Apply hot water bottles, aqua K pads, ice bags, and coolers, and hot and cold compresses as directed. Chart and document care and/or behaviors as required. Request individuals to provide and assist the person in collecting urine and stool specimens. Observe and record individuals quantitative intake of food and output of wastes. Take temperatures, pulse rates, blood pressure and respiration rate. Give therapeutic baths such as sitz baths and fever sponge baths. Measure and record height and weight. Inspect functioning oxygen therapy apparatus including tents, masks, and cannulae to assure that all are working properly. Apply splints, braces, slings and other self-help devices. Operate a variety of specialized monitoring and treatment devices. Attend to daily living activities, personal, hygienic, and simple human needs in order to maintain in the clinical facility an atmosphere conducive to treatment and comfortable for persons in care. Collect and carry laundry and dry cleaning of persons in care and deliver to appropriate place in the health care facility. Receive valuables and other belongings of persons in care and convey them to safe storage, keeping appropriate records. Feed persons requiring assistance in order to assure that such individuals receive appropriate nourishment. Bathe and dress, brush teeth and trim fingernails and toenails of persons in care. As directed by professional staff, moves, positions, lifts and transports persons in care using a variety of lifts and other aids in order to make them more comfortable, to prepare them for treatment and to deliver them to appropriate treatment facilities. Bring bedpans and urinals to disabled persons. Attend to incontinent persons in care. Talk and listen to persons in care and respond by encouraging them to cooperate and participate in treatment activities in order to help them achieve attitudes conducive to treatment and rehabilitation. Transport persons and supplies on occasion. Maintain persons in care rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
